Chrysler 42RE Special Instructions

In this transmission the governor pressure is used to select between 1st 2nd and 3rd gears. 3rd and 4th gear s on the same pressure but is selected by the overdrive solenoid. This is all done automatically by the Orion2 TCU.

Adjustments you need to make are setting the correct pressure to maintain gear integrity. The three graphs below should be set in a pattern more or less like below.

Blue is 1st gear.

Yellow is 2nd Gear

Green is 3rd and 4th gears

Tuning tip would be to see where the gear is slipping if the line is too high or too low. Important not to put power on slipping clutches. Back off and adjust the lines. You can put easy tune on Tune All to make tuning easier.
